A change of guard?

Is this some kind of change of guard in Indian batting? When did India last win a Test match without fifties from any of Sachin, Saurav, Dravid or Laxman? I decided to find out, and looked back through victorious Indian scorecards. We came close to it in the infamous Mumbai Test match against the Aussies (Murali Kartik versus Michael Clarke), but barring that, there were none until I got bored of the whole exercise by 1996.

Retirements or not, Indian batting is moving beyond their tremendous influence.

right from rd to srt to vvs to sg theirs were soft dismissals to put it mildly...

off around 600 runs india scored 380 came from openers only...one of which was trying to cement his place in team...thats shows how much fat-fours applied themselves in this match...

Interesting things are happening in Indian cricket these days. eep watching for more...myths are being debunked.

However, I'm not sure we have reached that stage yet for a wholesale change of guard.

ya soulberry, even i feel that way, gambhir is a case in point.. despite excellent odi performances, it took him around 4 years to be comfy with the Test opening slot.
