India's best chance of beating the Aussies was if we had a fit Zak and Sree to partner the outperforming Arpy. But now, we will have to make do with Ishant, and maybe Pankaj Singh or VRV to partner him.
But that will not stop me from talking about Sree. (This is your cue, you regional bias chanters) Very unlike him, he has not even been in the news for a really long time.
Buried, deep in The Hindu a month back, was this article on Sree who was in Coimbatore to recieve a cheque and this was what he had to say.
The 24-year-old paceman from Kerala, who was left out due to a shoulder injury, was however confident of being back in the team. “I am undergoing a treatment (Ayurveda) for my shoulder and the recovery rate is very strong. I feel all of a sudden that I am getting the strength back because I am able to bowl a lot better. However, at the moment my focus is to stay fit and play for my State in the crucial Ranji semifinal.
“I want to do well there and probably wait for the selectors to decide what next is in store for me,” said Sreesanth, who made it clear that he would not be undergoing a surgery for his shoulder.
What is your opinion, Soulberry? If I have paid any attention at all, it must mean you are some sort of a doctor. Is he being foolhardy, rejecting any suggestion of surgery? Non-doctors and even random drunks are permitted to comment.

i fall in non doctors catagory and certainly not in randomly drnks ;-)
but here i feel that sree was not comfortable with the idea of surgery...may be at this initial stage he was not willing to go under knife...may be there is something to this ayurveda treatment than we know it actually...
all in all i think he has the right to go for the treatment he believe in...
an outrageous thought...
may be he is not injured at all...he is cooling his heels to get his mind right...and for that i don't think any surgery is required...
pun intended...
There were news reports that Sree will be in fit in time for the Perth Test. If i am not mistaken Sree himself made the statement.
Ottayan, that is very much like the Sree we know and want to love. Obviously the selectors weren't very impressed, they sent VRV here. Hopefully Sree won't go the way of that other promising South Indian right arm paceman, B-A-L-A-J-I.
John,
Balaji has stress fractures in his back and had resumed bowling in the local Chennai league ( last checked).
And come to think of it, if we can manage our bowlers fitness a little better, we have pretty good depth as far as pace bowling goes. :)
Cheers
John, remember I posted comments on this issue...maybe a trifle PC that time.
If you ask me, I'll advise allopathic treatments. For such cases (I do not know the details so may be considered speculation from hearsay) I have found more consistent result from allopathic treatment and rehabilitation.
How I miss Sree! You're not alone there John...that's an attack I'd have been comfortable with. But imagine if both Harby and Sree were playing with Symo...in a way good that he's easing out of his shani dasha or whatever in the backwaters of God's Own Country. he'll be back and better...and I pray to the lord that he's blessed with the best commonsense available too.
Thanks Homer. Yes, we have Zak, Arpy, Irfan and Nehra who are seasoned left armers, and we have Sree, Munaf, Ishant, VRV, Pankaj Singh and Balaji - right-armers who carry a lot of promise.
Zak, Arpy, Sree and a fit Balaji may not be as good a pace quartret as the Aussies, but are certainly of Test quality and can be unleashed if the need arises. Or is it wishful thinking?
Thank you, Soulberry. Hopefully, whoever is advising Sree knows what he's doing.
